With crossed rivers Magog and Saint-François, bordered of mountains and forests, in the heart even of Canton-of-the Is, Sherbrooke was born. Located near the American border, with .. 1. 30 of Montreal and at 2. 30 of Quebec, Sherbrooke offers to all the advantages of a great urban centre in a natural decoration enchantor. Regional capital with human dimensions, the new Town of Sherbrooke, which gathers since January 1, 2002 Ascot, Bromptonville, Deauville, Fleurimont Lennoxville, Forest Rock'n'roll, Saint-Élie-in Orford and Sherbrooke, is the seventh city in importance in Quebec. It extends on nearly 356 km square and nearly 141 200 people live there.

Recognized like accessible city, the visitors are conquered by the charms of Sherbrooke and the tourist potential of the area. Bilingual city from its geographical situation, Sherbrooke gathers several trade and a range of services administrative, governmental, social and recreotouristic. The international reputation that the University of Sherbrooke and the University Bishop' S acquired in the cultural activity and and scientific research, hands-on training curricular areas in work environment make the pride of Sherbrookoises and Sherbrookois. In the field of health, the university Center of health of Estrie (CUSE), the local centers of Community services (CLSC) and the medical private clinics have all the infrastructures to meet the needs for the population. Our history

The church light of the nations is located in the district of Fleurimont and Is town of Sherbrooke count to a population of surroundings 42 000 inhabitants.

Here are a few years, liked it the Lord to call from Switzerland Matthieu Anku of Togolaise origin and his Suisse wife, to settle in the area of Montreal. The Protestant church reformed of Switzerland where Matthieu was Pasteur had required of him to continue work parmis them but Matthieu had received on behalf of the Lord the certitute, the conviction to come to be established in Canada and in particular in Quebec, in order to work like a rassemblor, and to work for the establishment of local churches. Then with his wife and their children, they decided to take a step of obeissance and the promise to be used as rassemblor concretized himself in the excercice of his pastoral ministry within the church of the Meadow.

In the following years, Matthieu requested for the establishment of a local church, if possible in a town of fifteen to twenty thousand inhabitants and especially on a virgin land. The Lord in his great kindness led Matthieu and his wife to be settled in the town of Fleurimont in January 2001. Matthieu was received like a prince by the mayor of fleurimont (Mr. Francis Gagnon), and after having read with attention the letter of introduction which had addressed to him (about Matthieu) the mayor of the city of the Meadow, Mr. Gagnon made the description of the city with Matthieu with much of enthusiasm and joy. It announced to him that its city counted approximately 17 000 inhabitants and that there was no evangelic church, Fleurimont was thus a virgin térritoire. After having described the city, the Mayor given the chart of the city in Matthieu and that of the surrounding area, this gesture which is certe banal, proves to be a prophetic sign in its significance.

Following this first encouraging stage, Matthieu perséverait in the fast and the prayer by seeking the direction to take. At this point in time the Lord put to him in heart the name which the assembly according to the word was to carry addressed to Abraham (Génèse 12:1-3)"Light of Nations".Matthieu invited friends of Zurich with a team in order to request for Fleurimont and the surroundings.

It is on May 20 2001 which the first celebration had place with some friends of Montreal is 18 Ce people was in a small room with Fleurimont that the Lord promised this day there that its Lumière church of the Nations, would be a church of families and several generations. (Esaie 61:9)

It is only 02 Septembre 2001 which the plenary opening ceremony had place and where aseemblée A took its take-off.
